How To Apply for a Thai Tourist E-Visa

Thailand Tourist visa application step-by-step process for Local Malaysians and International (students + workers)

Basic Information for the Resident

  • First of all, Malaysian citizens do not need to follow the general visa procedures. Malaysian citizens can enter visa-free for up to 30 days.
  • For international students, workers, and others, they must apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Embassy in Malaysia by accessing the link (https://thaievisa.go.th/signin)

Types of Tourist Visas

Two types of visas apply to everyone.

  • Single entry visa – fees RM 160 (3 months validity)
  • Multiple entry visa – fees RM 800 (6 months validity)

Documents Checklist for Application

  • Full Passport (6 months validity at least, with two blank pages)
  • Recent 35/45 size photo (white background, taken within 6 months)
  • Air Ticket booking (round-trip ticket)
  • Hotel booking (as accommodation proof)
  • Bank statement (last 3 months) showing at least RM 4,000 balance
  • Malaysia Permit
  • Entry stamp copy on the passport from Malaysian immigration

Step 1: Sign up for the eVisa Application

  • At first, the applicants have to create an account on the visa application portal using the link (https://thaievisa.go.th/signin). You have to provide your personal information to sign up for the portal.

Step 2: Complete the application

After completing sign-up, you must log in to the portal using your email and password.

After logging in, you must provide the following information to proceed to the next stage of the application.

  • Personal information
  • Passport information
  • Home country address
  • Malaysian address
  • University name and annual income for students
  • Company name and annual income for workers
  • Proposed date of entry to Thailand
  • Proposed date of exit from Thailand
  • Flight information (including flight number and airport name)
  • Hotel information (Hotel name, address, contact number)

Step 3: Upload Supporting Documents

The applicant has to attach the following documents at this stage for further procedures;

  • Malaysian Current Location (Current Permit)
  • Air ticket booking document
  • Hotel booking document
  • Bank statement

Step 4: Complete Payment

Once the applicant has attached all the documents, they click the submit option and then select the payment option. Then the applicant has to input the following bank/card details;

  • Bank/card holder name
  • Bank account/card number
  • Card expiry date
  • Card code

Once the payment information is provided accurately, the applicant has to approve the payment and complete the application. After completing the application, the applicant will receive an email confirming the application.

Additional Information

  • Visitors can extend their 60-day stay by an additional 30 days at the Thai Immigration Office.
  • Extension fee required: 1,900 THB/245 RM (Approximately)
  • Documents required: photo, passport, departure card, and extension form
  • Visa validity starts from the issuing date, not the entry date in Thailand.
  • Overstaying is illegal in Thailand; fines are 500 THB/65 RM per day.
  • Ensure a return ticket from Thailand and bring sufficient funds when entering Thailand (Thai Immigration may check this).

  1. Original Passport with at least 6-month validity and two blank evisa pages.
  2. Recent 35/45 size photo (white background, taken within 6 months).
  3. A copy of the reservation/confirmation of transport tickets to and from Thailand.
  4. Hotel booking (as accommodation proof).
  5. Bank statement (last 3 months) showing a balance of at least RM 4,000.
  6. Malaysia Student Permit.
  7. Sometimes, they require a student confirmation letter from the university.
  8. Sometimes, the embassy authority requires a copy of the entry stamp on the passport from Malaysian immigration.

Tourist eVisa Application For Workers & Employees

  1. Original Passport with at least 6-month validity and two blank evisa pages

  3. A copy of the reservation/confirmation of transport tickets to and from Thailand
