English Requirement For Admission in Sweden

 1. IELTS Requirement for Sweden Student Visa

  • IELTS Score For Bachelor Program: The minimum IELTS score is 6.0 for the Bachelor Program if the student can achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 or more, they are likely to receive more priority
  • IELTS Score For Master’s and Ph.D. Program: The minimum IELTS score is 6.5 for the master’s and PhD Programs if the student can achieve an IELTS score of 7.0 or more, they are likely to receive more priority
  • The IELTS Certificate is not compulsory for those students who have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English Language or Literature

2. Pearson PTE Academic or PTE Academic Online

For English 7: Score of 68 (writing 61) For the Depending on the University
For English 6: Score of 62 (writing 61) For Depending on the University

3. TOEFL iBT Only

For English 7: Score of 20 (scale 0-30) on the written test, the total score of 100 Depending on the University

2. Academic Documents

  • S.S.C Transcript and Certificate with a minimum C.G.P.A. of 2.5
  • HSC Transcript and Certificate with a minimum C.G.P.A. of 2.5
  • Bachelor’s Transcript and Certificate for master program

To apply to a master’s program, students must not submit SSC and HSC certificates and transcripts. They can submit only a bachelor’s certificate.

  • To apply for the Master’s Program, students need to complete a minimum of 180 credit hours. If a student completes SSC, HSC, and a 3.5 or 4-year bachelor program, they will be accepted for 180 credits.
  • Students can apply for a second master’s completed their master’s before and it will enhance to acceptance possibility compared to those who only completed the bachelor’s degree.
  • For Bachelor’s and Master’s in a science program/department, GRE and GMAT are given priority.

3. Sweden Student Visa Application Time For 2024

Every year there is a specific time for applying for admission.

  • For both Bachelor’s and Master’s the application portal will be opened on 16th October, 2024. And the portal closes on 15th January 2025.

4. Sweden Study Merit Result Publishing Date

  • The result of the merit list (application acceptance list) will be published on 11th April 2025.

5. University and Department/Course Selection Process

  • A Bachelor’s student can apply for eight (08) different programs in a university or one program from eight different universities. Similarly, a Master’s student can apply for four (04) different programs/departments in the same university or four different universities.
  • The Universities will accept and will provide offer letters to the students according to their merit results.
  • A student may receive an offer letter from more than one university. Then, the student will be asked to accept one university among them, after the student’s confirmation, the other universities will be deleted for him automatically.
  • After the result, the merit-listed students can apply for their preferred universities and programs.

6. Application Fees and Tuition Fees

  • The application fee (nonrefundable) is 970 Swedish Krona (BDT 12,000tk – 20,000tk depending on the money exchange rate). The application fee is the same for both bachelor’s and master’s.
  • Tuition fees, vary from university to university and also vary among different programs. For example: a science program fees are more than commerce or arts programs/ subjects.
  • A minimum tuition fee for a year, in an arts program will be; 10500*13 = 139000 Krona (13, 203 USD).

7.  Bank Statement Requirements to Get Admission In Sweden

For the Bank Statement;

  • The account name/ holder must be the student. No sponsor or FDR is accepted.
  • The account should be opened at least 6 months ago or more than this.
  • Earning source, TAX, and VAT information are not required/asked.
  • The tuition fees should be from application time to visa approval in the account. For example, (16th October, 2024 To 11th April 2025). 
  • One must keep one month’s extra tuition fee in the account. That means 13 months of tuition fees should be shown in the bank account.
  • The student should not withdraw money from the account till he gets the visa approval.

8. Study Gap Accepted in Sweden

There is no specific timeline to accept or deny the study gap. Usually, less than five years are accepted easily.

9. Spouse Visa Application

Bachelor, Master, and PhD students can apply for a spouse visa and they can fly together.

How to apply for a student visa in Sweden?

Step 1- Log into Universityadmissions.se. The application starts – and continues – with a user account.

Step 2- Search for your preferred courses and programs. There can be no application without courses and programs. Sweden has a huge selection to choose from.

You can search for:

  • for a specific program or course,
  • for courses in a specific subject area,
  • in various regions of Sweden
  • for courses at a specific university you’re interested in.

Step 3- Rank your selections. After selecting courses and programs that interest you, the next step is to prioritize them. Ranking selections is really important. The selection process works a bit differently in Sweden.

When the time comes to award places:

  • you’ll first be considered for the program you’ve ranked the highest
  • if you meet the entry requirements and there’s a place available, you’ll be offered one
  • all the programs you ranked lower will then be deleted
  • if you aren’t offered a place in the first program on your list, your second choice will be evaluated, and so on.

You can be offered only one study place. As soon as you’re offered a place in a program, all the lower-ranked programs will be deleted.

Ranking deadline

You have until the application deadline to change your ranking order.

Step 4- Provide application documents. After you’ve submitted your electronic application, you must send documents from your previous education institute.

Step 5- Pay your application fee. If you have citizenship from a country that is not an EU/EEA country (or Switzerland), an application fee is required for your admissions application to be processed. An application fee of 900 SEK (Swedish Kronor) must be received by the fee deadline for your application to be processed.

General document requirements

  • Certificates and diplomas of your completed degree(s) from an internationally recognized higher education institution. The certificate/diploma must be officially issued by a representative of the Academic Registrar’s Office, the Examinations Office, or the equivalent office that issues official transcripts of records at your university.
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • Proof that you meet the specific entry requirements. You must check the university’s website for information regarding the specific entry requirements for the course or program you have applied to and any other documentation they may require, such as dissertations, essay summaries, letters of recommendation, or letters of intent.
  • A copy of the page in your passport with your data and photograph.

Submitting your University Attested Documents (For students having degrees from Bangladesh)

  • Your transcript of record must be sent directly from your university in a sealed envelope. They will not accept your transcript if you or any other individual, courier, agency, or similar, sends your transcripts.
  • Do not send your cover sheet to the university/universities you have previously attended and requested transcripts from. If they send your transcripts to University Admissions in Sweden with your cover sheet, your documents will not be accepted.
  • Your transcript of record must be issued to University Admissions. If your transcript has been issued to you or any other individual, your documents will not be accepted.
  • The documents must be attested (stamped and signed) by the issuing university. If they’re copies of your transcript and diploma, they must be newly verified/certified by the issuing university. If your documents are attested by another university, college, or notary, they will not be accepted.

  • The student must complete the online application for a Sweden student visa on the website of the Swedish Migration Agency.
  • Fill out the required fields in the application form.
  • Copies of your passport that show personal data, signature, period of validity, and if you have permission to live in countries other than your home country.
  • Admission decision from the higher education organization in Sweden that shows that you are officially admitted to full-time studies in a program or courses that require your presence in Sweden.
  • Documents proving that you have sufficient means of financial support, which includes a bank statement and bank solvency. A statement from the bank demonstrating that you have at least SEK 10 314 as living expenses. The bank account must be under the student’s name.
  • If you intend to support yourself with bank assets, the bank statement you provide as proof of your assets must be issued no more than four months before the start of the period for which you are applying.
  • Be able to pay a possible fee for the application with a credit card or charge card which is SEK 1,500 (fees for residence permits for studies).
